How’s it going! I wanted to give you a
reminder about personal branding and what the concept of a brand and building
your brand means. We have heard this terminology used way too many times, and
it’s pretty generic… I agree with you… and don’t look at me like that.
How about we stay away from that term “build your brand” and
let’s say… hmmm… “Revitalize the Perception.” It is NEVER EVER too late to
revitalize the perception. If Joe, John, and Britney have this conceived (and
maybe real) perception of you today, well you can change that tomorrow. You can
literally change whatever you want in your life! You have the power to do this!
Read these quotes to yourself in a small whisper (or aloud
if you chose… whatever you feel is best):
- “A brand is a perception or emotion, maintained by a buyer or a prospective buyer; describing the experience related to doing business with an organization or by consuming its products or services.”
- “Relevance is something we earn by the importance others place on what we do for them and by their judgment of how well we do it.”
- “Consistency is the hallmark of all strong brands. Inconsistency weakens brands and suspends belief.”
What are your thoughts after reading that? How do you feel
about those powerful messages? What is your inner voice telling you? How does
it make you feel when you read these words? You know why successful people are
successful in everything they attempt? You know why a successful person
measures success in their own terms? I’m sure you know why and what you believe
is valid… but I truly believe these three quotes are relevant in life and
highly relate to each other. The positive perception, emotion, and energy that
you put out into the universe will allow other people to feel it. By
continuously updating your knowledge, information about certain topics, and
your capacity to learn can allow you to teach others. And this makes you
relevant! Just how we download the newest updates for our systems, you have to
have the most current knowledge to enlighten someone and share something that
someone didn’t know today… and that’s what makes you relevant. When you are
consistent in the person you are, people expect that same person to show up and
do the things that you would normally do. If you do something consistently…
whatever it is… that becomes your constant. Successful people discover what
they can do every single day that becomes constant to grow and develop. And one
day… just one day… that same person you see in the mirror will be the person
that everyone else sees when you are in public.
“Revitalize the Perception”… you have the power… imagine
that person in the mirror… be relevant today… be consistent in the person you
are… project positivity and great energy into others…
1) Look in the mirror and describe the person you currently
see
2) Keep looking in the mirror and describe the person you
want to see
3) Now see yourself as that person… you are that person… you
have “revitalized the perception”… you are your future self in the present moment!
I honestly speak to myself in the car ride or on the airport
in the mornings. I want you to please familiarize yourself with these words and
really believe you are these words. When speaking words out loud, it has the physiological
effect to transform our mind, body, and spiritual energy. You speak into
existence who you are… and who you become see yourself as…
